"An even bigger challenge will be defeating the underlying ideology that unites all the targets of America's global war - the radical dictates of a strain of Sunni Islam that sees battle as holy, secularism as evil and civilians as justifiable targets both regionally and abroad."

"Have you seen the one who denies the Day of Judgment?  He (or she) it is who drives away the orphan (or in the case of the United States, refugee children from strife in Central America) and does not encourage the feeding of the poor.  [They are] those who make a show of piety and refuse to share the necessities of life (Juz:30, Al-Maun:107)."  "Such is the guidance of God: He guides whom He pleases.  But he to whom He confounds shall have none to guide him [and] is the one who shall face the terrors of the Day of Resurrection (Juz:23, Az-Zumar:39)."  "It (the Book) is a guide for those who are God conscious, who believe in the Unseen, and firmly believe in the Hereafter.  In fact, as for those who reject Faith; it is the same, whether you warn them or you don't, they will not believe (Juz:1, Al-Baqarah:2)."  "We have never seen anyone rising back to life after death.  Raise our forefathers back to life if you are true in your claim about the life hereafter.  This cannot be done to meet the demand of individuals; God has appointed a time when He will resurrect all mankind simultaneously and will subject them to accountability in His Court.  If one has to protect oneself there, one should think about it here.  For no one will be able to save himself there by his own power, not by the power of anyone else (Juz:25, Ad-Dukhan:44)."

"It is utterly against reason and justice that the good and the bad, the obedient and the disobedient, the oppressor and the oppressed, should be made equal ultimately.  Just as you did not become living of your own accord, but became living by Our power, so you do not die of your own accord, but die when We send death on you.  And a time is certainly coming when you will all be gathered together.  You may not believe in this because of your ignorance today, but the time will come when you will see it yourself.  You will be presented before God and your whole book of conduct will be laid open bearing evidence against each of your misdeeds.  Then you will come to know how dearly has your denial of the Hereafter and your mockery of it cost you (Juz:25, Al-Jathiya:45)."  These are quotes from the Qur'an, which firmly believes in Judgment Day, the resurrection of the dead and life in the Hereafter.  Let us see how Evangelical bigots react to this.  They condemn the 99% over the actions of the radical 1% (or less).  Islam is about 1400 years old.  When Christianity was 1400 years old, radical Christians went on the "Crusades" (holy wars) in which they would burn the inhabitants of entire towns at the stake.  It took the church approximately 150 years to "grow out of it".  Living in the 21st century, we do not have 150 years for radical Muslims to do likewise.

Pastor Jerry Vines, of First Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida, a past president of the Southern Baptist Convention, stated in June 2002 that Mohammad was a "demon possessed pedophile (a person who has a sexual interest in children)", that his last wife was a 9-year-old girl.  But, according to Wikipedia, she was in her late 20s or early 30s.  He is either ignorant, or lies.  Pastor James McConnell, of Whitewell Metropolitan Tabernacle Church in Belfast, Ireland, May 2014: "Islam is heathen, Islam is satanic, Islam is a doctrine spawned in hell."  He should listen to the Qur'an: "Your whole book of conduct will be laid open bearing evidence against each of your misdeeds (on Judgment Day)."  Pastor Paul Mills, of Arlington Faith Chapel in Arlington, Texas, September 2001: "The religion of Islam is a false religion as far as we believe."  Prove it.  Pastor Brent Arterbury, of Life Church in Haltom City, Texas, September 2001: "Islam is a very destructive type of faith."  Ah, but so is Christianity at times (see Beltane link).  American Family Association director Bryan Fischer, an evangelical organization: "American Muslims are a toxic cancer."  Sounds like he is trying to incite violence against all Muslim people.  Danny Nalliah of Catch the Fire Ministries, in Australia, August 2006: "The Qur'an speaks of world domination."  Where in the Qur'an?  Pastor David Clippard at the Southern Baptist Convention, November 2006: "The real threat we are facing today is that Islam has a strategic plan to conquer and occupy America."  Which is?  Charles Colson, founder of the Prison Fellowships Ministries, told the Southern Baptist Convention's Pastor's Conference, June 2007, that "Islam is a vicious evil."  All Muslims are bad?

Pastor O'Neal Dozier, July 2006: "The Islamic religion in my view is a cult."  Again, prove it.  Pastor John Hagee, September 2006: "Those who live by the Qur'an have a scriptural mandate to kill Christians and Jews."  Every single one?  Pastor Robert Morey, who founded Faith Defenders, November 2001: "Let's bomb Mecca and Medina and that will end Islam."  That will really radicalize Islam.  Flip Benham of Operation Save America issued a statement, August 2010, concerning a protest in front of a Bridgeport, Conn. mosque: "Islam presents a monstrous worldview, birthed in the pit of hell, which brings untold misery and murder upon precious people created in the image of God."  The 1%, maybe.  From "American Evangelicalism and Islamophobia" by T.W. Seth, April 27, 2013: "As an extension of xenophobia (the irrational fear of that which is considered different or unknown), Islamophobia is any prejudice or hatred toward Muslims without cause or reason.  Unfortunately for Muslims, people with prejudice against Islam often justify their position by conflating  (to combine into a composite whole) the heinous work of militant Islamist organizations with the entire religion of Islam.  But this is no more appropriate than conflating the views and behavior of NRA member Timothy McVeigh with the entire organization of the National Rifle Association."  These Evangelicals, instead of putting out the fire of jihad, pour gasoline on it.  Perhaps learning a lesson from Sierra Leone, a country located in west Africa, on tolerance: "Kelfala Conteh is a caretaker at the oldest mosque in Freetown (the capital). 'Of course Christians come here,' he says with pride.  'We have both Christians and Muslims praying side by side.  No fighting.' (The Economist, May 31, 2014)"

Or following the words of President Bush: "[The terrorists] practice a fringe form of Islamic extremism that has been rejected by Muslim scholars and the vast majority of Muslim clerics; a fringe movement that perverts the peaceful teachings of Islam."  What about an opinion of people in the Middle East.  "Muslims across the world and particularly in the Middle East have been lampooning ISIS in numerous ways.  One way is to take the group's Arabic acronym (a word formed of the first letters of each one of the words in a phrase) of 'Da'ish' and replace it with the rhyming word 'Ja'hish' which literally translates to donkey.  In Lebanon, where ISIS also staged incursions in recent months, one news site published an Onion-style article joking the militants postponed its invasion because of Lebanon's complex political system.  'We do not yet understand the logic of Lebanon,' a fake ISIS spokesman is quoted saying in the NOW News parody.  'I mean...who do we overthrow around here?"  Meanwhile, Palestinian satire TV show Watan ala Watar produced a segment in June mocking the Islamic State fighters as ridiculous hypocrites (Islamophobia Today, September 20, 2014)."  So, the Evangelicals, many of whom live in their plush (very fancy and usually expensive) suburban homes enjoy taking a potshot (a critical remark made at random) at mainstream Muslims in general, for entertainment.  By American standards, some Muslims live in a perpetual drought, and recession.  The drought is obvious as they live in a desert.  The recession comes from a weakened economy.  For example, it has been said that power is spotty in parts of the Middle East.  In Egypt a blackout cut power in a hospital during an operation.  In Libya power has shut off over the entire country for a day.  In Baghdad, where summer temperatures usually rise above 110 degrees, power outages may be often - air conditioning stops until power is restored, unless a family owns a generator.  There is a crumbling infrastructure in the Middle East that needs billions of dollars and time to fix.  This makes Evangelicals like wolves moving in for a kill, as they sense a weakness.  Their Christian charity is a joke.

But, the Crusaders, in the 1400s, were fighting against monarchies, tyrants and evil people in general.  They were not fighting against a country that had a "Bill of Rights".  The first right, or freedom, is that of religion.  This guarantees to all Americans the right to practice any religion they choose, or to practice no religion at all.  The right to express ideas and opinions when one speaks is called freedom of speech, the second right, or freedom.  Back in the 1400s, people who criticized the actions of a government were imprisoned.  For the Islamic State to go on a moral crusade against a country that guarantees fundamental rights in the 21st century is asinine (very stupid).  "American history has had blemishes; it has involved wrong-headedness, corruption and venality (doing dishonest things for money).  It also represents the first modern democracy and the first assertion anywhere that 'all men are created equal'.  It has saved the world from horrible dictatorships, and throughout its history, America has learned from its mistakes and always improved.  Here is what is uniquely American.  My great-great grandmother was the daughter of an English nobleman.  She married a Catholic and was disinherited by her father, whom she never saw again.  Her Catholic husband was a 'hedge teacher'.  Catholics were forbidden to be educated, especially in terms of their faith, and so 'hedge' or 'cave' teachers were men who took their students out into the hedges and caves to be taught, all the time susceptible to brutal British oppression.  Ultimately, there was no future for those Irish men and women in their homeland and so they moved west.  All they wanted was freedom and opportunity and they got it.  My ancestors, their brothers and sisters started coming to America in 1849 and continued until 1867.  They became laborers and railroad workers and later farmers in western Ohio.  They had their sons and daughters educated and they became good and productive American citizens.  They did not kill, destroy, sterilize or intern anyone. (William Dillion, October 8, 2014)."  But before anyone judges Islam so harshly, they could listen more carefully to what the Qur'an really says.

Noah.  "Long before them, the people of Noah disbelieved.  They rejected Our servant, called him a madman and drove him out.  So We opened the gates of heaven with pouring rain and caused the earth to burst with gushing springs, and the waters met to fulfill the decreed end.  We carried him in an Ark built with planks and nails, which drifted on under Our care (Juz:27, Al-Quamar:54)."

Abraham and Lot.  "And mention Our devotees Abraham, Isaac and Jacob: men of power and vision (Juz:23, Suad:38)."  "Remember when their brother Lot asked them: 'Will you [males] fornicate [recreational sex] with males from among the creatures of the world and leave those [females] whom your Lord has created for you to be your mates?  You are a people who have transgressed all limits' (Juz:19, Ash-Shuara:26)."  "He has chosen you and has not laid upon you any hardship in the observance of your faith - the faith of your father Abraham (Juz:17, Al-Hajj:22)."

Moses.  "We afflicted Pharaoh's people with several years of famine and shortages of fruit so that they might come to their senses.  But whenever they had good times they said 'It is our due,' and whenever evil befell them they ascribed that bad luck to Moses and those with him.  In fact their misfortune was in the hands of God; yet most of them do not know.  They said to Moses: 'No matter what sign you may bring us by your magic spell, we are not going to believe you.'  So We plagued them with storms, locust, lice, frogs and blood: clear cut signs, yet they persisted in their arrogance (Juz:9, Al-Araf:7)."

Jesus and the Book.  "In fact, the example of the birth of Jesus in the sight of God is like the example of Adam who had no father and mother, whom He created out of dust, then said to him: 'Be" and he was (Juz:3, Alay Imran:3)."  "Then a group from the children of Israel believed in Jesus and another group disbelieved (Juz:28, As-Saff:61)."  "They even say: 'We have killed the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary.'  Whereas in fact, neither did they kill him nor did they crucify him but they thought they did.  God took him up to Himself (Juz:6, An-Nisa:4)."  "Jesus is, in fact, a sign of the coming of the Hour of Doom (Juz:25, Az-Zukhruf:43)."  "Do not argue with the people of the Book except in good taste and say: 'We believe in that which is sent down to us and that which is sent down to you; our God and your God are the same (Juz:21, Al-Ankabut:29)."

Righteousness.  "Righteousness is not whether you turn your face towards the East or West; but the righteousness is to believe in God, the Last Day, the Angels, the Book and the Prophets, and to spend wealth out of love for Him on relatives, orphans, helpless and needy travelers (Juz:2, Al-Baqarah:2)."  "Show forgiveness, speak for justice and avoid the ignorant (Juz:9, Al-Araf:7)."  "God commands doing justice, doing good to others, and giving to near relatives, and He forbids indecency, wickedness, and rebellion (Juz:14, An-Nahl:16)."  "There will be a great reward for such of those who do righteous deeds and refrain from evil (Juz:4, Alay Imran:3)."  "Surely the noblest of you in the sight of God is he who is the most righteous (Juz:26, Al-Hujurat:49)."

Great tribulation.  "The time of Great Terror will not grieve them.  On that Day We shall roll up the heavens like a scroll of writings (Juz:17, Al-Anbiya:21)."  "The catastrophic quaking of the Hour of Doom will be terrible indeed.  On that Day you shall see that every nursing mother will forget her nursing babe and every pregnant female will miscarry, and you will see people as if they are intoxicated, though they will not be drunk (Juz:17, Al-Hajj:22)."  "Then a trumpet shall be blown and they will rise up from their graves.  On that Day no soul will suffer the least injustice (Juz:23, Ya-sin:36)."  "When the inevitable even will come to pass - then some shall be abased and some exalted.  The earth shall be shaken with severe shaking and the mountains shall be made to crumble with awful crumbling and become like scattered dust.  Then you shall be divided: those on the right hand - how blessed shall be the people of the right hand; those on the left hand - how damned shall be the people of the left hand (Juz:27, Al-Waqiah:56)."  "The Hour of Doom is sure to come, there is no doubt about it; yet most people do not believe it (Juz:24, Ghafir:40)."

Resurrection.  "Man says: 'What.  Once I am dead, shall I be raised to life again?'  Does not the man remember that We created him before out of nothing (Juz:16, Maryam:19)?"  "The real losers are those who will lose their souls as well as their families on the Day of Resurrection (Juz:23, Az-Zumar:39)."  "Today they say: 'There is no other life except the life on this earth and we shall never be raised to life again (Juz:7, Al-Anam:6)."

Heaven and hell.  "God invites you to the Home of Peace and guides whom He pleases to the Right Way (Juz:11, Yumus:10)."  "As for the abode of the Hereafter, We have reserved it for those who seek neither glory nor corruption in the earth; the ultimate good is for the righteous (Juz:20, Al-Qasas:28)."  "He that desires the transitory things of this life, We readily grant him such things as We please to whomsoever We want, then We condemn him to hell, where he will burn, disgraced and rejected (Juz:15, Al-Isra:17)."  "It is neither your wealth nor your children which bring you closer to Us even one jot, but those who believe and do good deeds (Juz:22, Saba:34)."  "The life of this world is only temporary enjoyment, while the abode of the Hereafter is everlasting (Juz:24, Ghafir:40)."  "Surely, the gates of Heaven will not be opened for those who deny Our revelations and treat them with arrogance; their admission into paradise will be as impossible as the passing of a camel through the eye of a needle (Juz:8, Al-Araf:7)."  "The Day when He will gather you all will be the Day of Assembly.  Those who believe in God and do good deeds, He will remove from them their sins and admit them to gardens beneath which rivers flow, to live therein forever.  As for those who disbelieved, they will become the inmates of hell (Juz:28, At-Taghabun:64)."

Alpha and Omega, and the Qur'an"All that is in the heavens and the earth glorifies God, and He is the Almighty.  He is the First and the Last (Juz:27, Al-Hadid:57)."  "O mankind, you have been distracted by the rivalry of piling up worldly gains against one another.  You will never be satisfied until you get into the grave.  Would that you knew through the real knowledge provided to you in this Qur'an and care about your life in the Hereafter (Juz:30, At-Takathur:102)."

So in the Qur'an, we have Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, righteousness, the Last Day, resurrection, heaven and hell, and the Alpha and Omega.  When Evangelicals attack mainstream Islam, they attack the Qur'an.  When they attack the Qur'an, they attack Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, righteousness, the Last Day, resurrection, heaven and hell, and the Alpha and Omega.  What are these people doing in their neurotic (always fearful or worried about something) tendencies.  And then one need not wonder why gasoline is being poured on jihad.  The Qur'an makes three points: 1) the fact that people are distracted by materialistic pursuits, 2) that they can never have enough, until they are dead, and 3) if they understood what reality is, they would be more concerned about their life post-death ("in the Hereafter").  Apparently, Evangelicals who oppose these concepts are as those who have disbelieved, and can become the "inmates of hell".  The Islamic State, however, is reminiscent (similar to something else) of Nazism in the 1930s, pre-invasion of Poland in 1939.  Like the Nazis, then, the Islamic State is intolerant of others opinions.  And, like the Nazis, who made Germans feel good about themselves again during the Great Depression, the Islamic State is regarded by many as a "family friendly" organization.  So, a vicious circle occurs.  The Evangelicals pour gasoline on jihad.  The Islamic State goes on a rampage, killing women and beating children.  Then America responds with its bombs.  And the cycle begins again.  Mainstream Christians complain mainstream Muslims won't influence extremist brethren.  How can they, and would it do any good, when Evangelicals inflame them?

There are other levels of correlation between the Qur'an and the Bible.  #1 - Qur'an: "On that Day you shall see every nursing mother will forget her nursing babe and every pregnant female will miscarry."  Bible: "How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers (Matthew 24:11)."  #2 - "Qur'an: "The earth shall be shaken with severe shaking and the mountains shall be made to crumble."  Bible: "Every mountain and island were moved out of their places (Revelation 6:14)."  #3 - Qur'an: "On that Day We shall roll up the heavens like a scroll of writings."  Bible: "And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together (Revelation 6:14)."  #4 - Qur'an: "Then a trumpet shall be blown and they will rise up from their graves."  Bible: "The trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised (I Corinthians 15:52)."  #5 - Qur'an: "Then you shall be divided: those on the right hand - how blessed shall be the people of the right hand; those on the left hand - how damned shall be the people of the left hand."  Bible: "Then the King will say to those on his right hand, 'Come you who are blessed, take your inheritance'.  Then he will say to those on his left hand, 'Depart from me, you cursed, into everlasting fire' (Matthew 25:34,41)."  #6 - Qur'an: "Surely, the gates of Heaven will not be opened for those who deny Our revelations and treat them with arrogance; their admission into paradise will be as impossible as the passing of a camel through the eye of a needle."  Bible: "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God (Matthew 19:25)."  #7 - Qur'an: "All that is in the Heavens and the earth glorifies God, and He is the Almighty.  He is the First and the Last."  Bible: "I am the Alpha (beginning) and the Omega (end), who is and who was, the Almighty (Revelation 1:8)."  Those people who attack Islam may not believe in any of the previous statements in this paragraph at all, Bible or Qur'an.
